Fancy(ish) Friday

3 summer-slips-weworewhat
{Danielle of WeWoreWhat}

I started amassing vintage slips on a whim long ago-- they're unique, affordable and the right ones can indeed be worn as outerwear. Its a very fine line though between 'lingerie inspired' outfit and 'hey I forgot to put clothes on before leaving the house.' While not authentic, an actual slip DRESS is an obviously much safer choice-- same look, less tricky.

I adore everything about this outfit...except for the sandals, which have been cropped out on principal. No no no, I will not get on board the 'ugly sandal' trend. Sorry, sometimes you really can say never. That being said, I would otherwise steal this look in a heartbeat!

Thanks to the long weekend, this week has managed to fly by-- can't we just always have 4 day weeks? No? Ok, well I will take what I can get! I'm feeling magically rested and re-energized compared to the last few weeks, and plan on taking full advantage of it. Nothing crazy, but some quality girl time and a nice run are hopefully in the cards {ok, the run is the only one of the two not guaranteed.}

Hope you have a great weekend!

Drop it Like its Hot

I was going to title this 'Desk to Drinks' but where is the fun in that? Yes, I am going from work straight to an industry cocktail event, but why pass up an homage to Snoop Dogg? Exactly. I go through phases where I ether love or hate drop waist dresses, and lately I'm all about them. Especially with the warmer temperatures I'm loving the way they still have a little shape, but don't restrict. Plus, I can kind of do a shimmy since there are pleats {obviously not at work!}

Fancy Friday

Lovely!
{image}

Not sure which is more beautiful-- this Ulyana Sergenko dress or the the woman wearing it...I'd take either! While I'm not always a fan of strapless {except on gowns, and still then, not on me} this takes the cake. Somehow the floral and the full skirt make a plunging strapless look sultry and springy, not sleazy. A perfect spring moment in my perfect city {Paris of course.}

After running around {literally and metaphorically} for the last few weeks, I can't wait for some quality time tonight...at home. Yes, nail painting, face masks and some major chill time is in order tonight. Added bonus-- I'll be fully rested for a night out tomorrow! As much as I love relaxing, too much of it and I just get a major case of the blahs. Balance balance balance seems to be the key {at least that's what I hear.}

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Snake Charmer

Saying I love Equipment blouses {and tops, and sweaters...and oh yeah dresses} is as obvious as saying I like chocolate. I literally want everything they make {and any chocolate made too...but that's a different story} and this blouse was no exception. I'd been eyeing it, but had yet to pull the trigger. As always, my ever so styling Mom surprised me for Christmas with it--without even knowing I'd fallen in love!

Retro in Red

I've always been a sucker for anything legit vintage, or just vintage looking/inspired. I stumbled upon this dress at Anthropolgie on crazy sale and couldn't resist. Plus, the buttons means that I can wear it to work...or strategically unbutton a few and wear it out, making it semi-convertible clothing {which I also love.}

Dress: Anthropologie {similar} // Blazer: Kulson {try this or this}

Earrings: Gemma Redux {love these Baublebar ones} // Cuff: J. Crew {try this or this}

Nail Polish: Butter London 'Fiver'

Fancy Friday

carolina herrera gown at squerryes court in kent, england

Maybe one day my weekends will be spent like this-- strolling around my estate in a ballgown with my loving dog. At least I might be able to swing the ballgown....

This week flew by shockingly fast- though no matter how fast, the weekend always seems light years away. That being said, I am looking forward to some quality girl time...accompanied by some quality bubbly, and of course spending time with the family on Mother's Day. Other than that, its sleep, House of Cards, eat, sleep, House of Cards {yes late to the game, but so hooked}

Have a great weekend!

Preppy Party

Today we discuss another object of my obsession, the Rag & Bone Talia sweater. From the second I saw it I haven't gotten it out of my head...however I also haven't got almost $400 to spend on a sweater. Le sigh. I searched endlessly on ebay for something that would even come close, but no such luck. This Tibi cutie certainly has the same tennis player vibe, but more of a nice good girl way, not chic Parisian way.

I finally found a copycat version on Nasty Gal {so wrong...yet so right} and waited to long to order. Magically last weekend it came back in stock and I've made it mine! Its already out of stock AGAIN but check back in case they re-stock...

Sweater: Tibi // Skirt: Zara // Jacket: Gap {try this or this}

Paint Party

As I may have mentioned, oh maybe a thousand times, I've been obsessed with the Tibi splatter skirt  for ages {ok since last year.} Of course, I figured I shouldn't spend the money blah blah blah and figured I could find on ebay, but no. It is gone. Forever? Hopefully not, but it feels like that. I've been suffering from a severe case of non-buyers remorse, if you will.
 All hope is not lost though-- I snagged this version when Tibi had a sample sale going on and do adore it. I will still climb mountains {or at least sale racks} to find the original, but this version still makes me very happy.

Sweater: Rag & Bone {almost identical here}
// Skirt: Tibi {This dress is a little similar if you want to mix it up}

Necklace: Anthropologie

Nail Polish: Essie 'Blanc' // Ring: H&M // Bracelets: Vintage, J. Crew

Leather Jacket: Guess // Bag: J. Crew // Shoes: Zara {I will literally SOB the day these fall apart}

Business Blues

I got this dress back when my parents were living in San Francisco and there were cute little stores on every corner {among other wonderful things!} While I adore it, the fit felt a little off when I tried it on recently-- too loose/long for play but not quite right for work. So I went for my two favorite ways to transform anything-- layering and belting. Boom! Like a while new dress. Oh and there are pockets, so pretty much I've fallen back in love with it...

Dress: Tory Burch {similar here and here} // Blouse: Elizabeth and James {try this or this} //

I call this 'Business meets Nantucket'

Daydreams and Lace

I meant to get this post up a few days ago, but my desktop {yes, I actually own a desktop still...} decide to just stop working and I'd rather spend the money on a new skirt than getting it fixed {or a Macbook!}

I probably dream about the Tibi silk faille midi skirt at least once a day, I really should just buy it- all the cheaper but not as great versions I've bought have probably totaled up to way more by now. That being said, I found this Tibi beauty on eBay and absolutely adore it. Slightly shorter and more delicate, but certainly still has that perfect pouf feeling of my dream version!

Top: J. Crew {or try this or this} // Belt: D&G // Skirt: Tibi {dream version...and steal version}

Blazer: Marc Jacobs // Earrings: Baublebar
// Bracelet: J. Crew {sold out but LOVE the new tortoiseshell version!}
// Nail Polish: Essie 'Watermelon'

{so in love!}
