Fancy Friday

Purple

While I'm not usually one for velvet ensembles, this photo single-handledly changed my mind. The tailoring, color, and vintage vibe are just dreamy, and would make staying warm look much more stylish than usual.

Based purely on my insane obsession with boots and coats, I, like every other blogger out there, have been waiting for cold temperatures. Then I woke up, went outside, and remembered what 40 degrees felt like. Whoops, too late now though! Sundresses will finally be packed away this weekend, and the great season swap will begin. You get what you wish for indeed...

One thing that won't be packed away from teh summer though? My white feather fascinator! One of my best friends (and most amazing hostess I know) is having an adult tea party this weekend and I couldn't be more excited. Friends and fanciness? Yes please!

So, bundle up, and go have a great weekend!

Criminally Cozy

This is one of those wonderfully magical outfits that technically looks like I'm wearing real clothes, but feels like I'm wearing dreamy pajamas. Ok, to be more precise, I hope it looks like I'm wearing real clothes... This sweater is oversized, wide, swingy, and I couldn't love it more. Its as if a dress and sweater had a baby-- the best of both worlds in my opinion. Sure some people may think I'm wearing a linebacker's discarded sweater...or that I am secretly pregnant and trying to hide it (um NO), but I couldn't care less.

While I love flat over the knee boots since they make it much easier to avoid the pirate meets 'Pretty Woman' vibe than heeled ones, I think these are ladylike perfection and need to get in my closet ASAP...

A Mini Midi Moment

Ok, so this is not my first (nor will it be my last) ode to the midi, but I truly am hooked on them and I'll take any excuse I can to use alliteration. While this is not as voluminous as the midi's I've been sporting lately in everything from neoprene to leather, it still counts.

Fancy Friday

Burgundy Gown
{image}

While it hasn't been a rough week-- nor a particularly eventful or interesting one-- I've been waiting with even more bated breath than usual for Friday. Why? Absolutely no reason really! The novelty of not working weekends anymore has yet to wear off. Just knowing I have the freedom to do as I please has made me so happy that I finally look forward to the weekends ago (like a normal person.)

So this weekend could be jam-packed or it could be nothing but lazy strolls and reading in bed with a cup (or five) of coffee, but its the freedom and the possibilities that make it so great. Of course, there are plenty of things I should do, but that will never really stop no matter how many tasks I check off, so what's the point in stressing over it?

Hope you have a great weekend filled with endless possibilities!!

The Uniform

To say that I can't get enough of leather (be it real, faux or vegan) may be the understatement of the year. No matter how many shorts, skirts, jackets or pants I buy, I always seem to need (ok want) more. I've been almost as drawn to army green and camo, but not a full on addiction yet. So while not the most creative, its become one of my favorite go to combinations.

Everyone needs their own version of a uniform when it comes to getting ready...especially in the morning when I manage to never have enough time no matter how early I get up! Now excuse me while I go add more skirts to my virtual shopping cart...

Top: Zara // Skirt: Asos {want this one next!}

I'm having a MAJOR cutout/lace-up heels moment! I just bought these from Zara which I adore,but feel like I should add these even though it'll be winter before  I know it....

Buried Treasure

As much as I adore this skirt (worn multiple times and in the pink as well), for once this post is not on the clothes but on the most incredible shoes I own. No not the most practical, not the most comfortable and they sure don't go with much, but the details are out of this world! I found them buried amidst the clearance racks of DSW ages ago... when I thought nothing of wearing shoes a size too small.

Even though I don't wear them a lot (again, too small) it makes me happy just knowing they are tucked away in my closet. The fabric alone is perfection-- Pucci prints are a weakness of mine-- but the details on the heel and sole are what make them out of this world.

I know I'm not the only one holding onto items like this, right??? Not in the 'one day it will fit me again' way, but those few pieces that are just too unique and beautiful to part with.

Sweater: Mago // Skirt: Asos

Heels: Pucci {try these}

The details on my shoes are just INSANE. Silver sculptured heels and soles with drawings of Italians? Yes please!

Going Green

Somehow summer came and went and I didn't wear this breezy maxi once. In an effort to both justify my purchase as well as mix things up, I did my best to bring this baby out before its too cold to even utter the word 'sundress.' In my head, adding blazers/tights/leather can make almost anything fall and winter appropriate...have I mentioned yet that I can rationalize anything?

Dress: Diane Von Furstenberg // Sweater: H&M {similar} //

Fancy Friday

Because it is epic....

White in cold weather isn't just reserved for bunnies, brides, and evil Queens from Narnia. This is a perfect example of just how epically dreamy it can be. It goes without saying (though I will anyway) that I have an obsession with feathered clothing, so being wrapped up in a cloud of feathers would be heaven. Practical? No, but what fun things are??

Lately there doesn't seem to be anything practical that appeals to me, its all exotic trips, boots that cost more than my rent and purses that would cost as much as a car. Hopefully its a phase, because I never do remember to buy a lottery ticket.

So other than daydreaming there isn't much planned for the weekend. Rainy days are meant for relaxing right? Whether you're going out on the town or having a pajama party like me...

Have a great weekend!

Man Repelling 101

Anyone who can not only rock legit pajamas in the daytime like a champ but also not give a damn what anyone thinks, is an inspiration for sure. Leandra Medine (aka the Man Repeller of course) stopped into DC last night to celebrate her new book. Of course, I was determined to try to find the perfect outfit without looking like I was in fact trying to find the perfect outfit...

Enter, my amazing Mustard Seed vintage leather midi skirt (with pockets!) Rain be damned, I was not missing an excuse to finally break this baby out of my closet. Sometimes I think I would sleep in leather pajamas I love it so...but that would um be a little weird though probably pretty Man Repeller-y! While I didn't have the guts to take my jacket off and show the world my crop top until I was safely at home, I felt oh so much wilder knowing it was under my cozy sweatshirt jacket.

Skirt: Vintage {try this real or this faux} // Jacket: Edun // Crop Top: Asos

Earrings: J. Crew // Necklace: Baublebar

Shoes: Zara {OBSESSED!} // Jacket: J. Crew

{Man Repeller inspired looks and stunning views!}

{Instagramming my little heart out of course!}

Thank you Quynh Tonnu for my wonderful non-selfie shots and a great night!

Fancy Friday

On the street in Paris.

This photo makes me happy. Beautiful dress, happy girl and oh right, PARIS. Le sigh indeed...this time 4 years ago (exactly) I was in Paris amidst the excitement of Fashion Week. Though I've said pretty much every day since I got off the plane that I needed to get back, I still have yet. I guess life has gotten in the way, but that's not really an excuse now is it? Life will ALWAYS get in the way if you let it.

I'm in the midst of the fall birthday blitz (and eep! mine is just a month away) but other than that looking forward to a low key weekend. I've finally gotten back into reading and can't wait to curl up with my Kindle.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend filled with whatever it is that makes you smile!

Wonderful Wedding

In honor of Fancy Friday, I bring you....the post I meant to put up two weeks ago! It's not often that I get to wear a full length gown (well other than playing dress up at home) so I couldn't resist posting a few pics from the truly wonderful wedding of one of my best friend's in the world.

As an added bonus, thanks to the copious amount of mirrors, there is not a single selfie with faux wood paneling. How's THAT for fancy?

Ladylike

If you find something you love, hold on to it right? Oh, and then buy it in every color you can. Right, so that's why this skirt in blue just wasn't enough for me. Logical and practical, that's me! Thanks to our lovely 80 degree October weather, a coral skirt doesn't feel the least bit out of place (although even if it did, that wouldn't stop me!)
Now on to the star though, the shoes. I'd love to claim originality on them but Like anything and everything that Miss Blair Edie of Atlantic-Pacific wears, I immediately decided I had to make them mine. While my shoe obsession has taken a backseat lately to an unquenchable bag lust, its now back in full effect. You (and my bank account) have been warned...

Pajama Party

I don't know if its because I've been sick and just want to be cozy, or if I'm rebelling after last week's pants-a-thon, but I can't get enough of pajama inspired clothes. This dress feels like a cross between a 1940's waitress uniform and a fabulous fancy men's sleep-shirt. I mean both of that in the best possible way, a top-notch combination if you ask me. The icing on the cake? It may feel like I'm in silk pajamas, but its technically a dress, what more could a girl want?!

Dress: J. Crew Collection (score from Secondi with tags on! Similar here) // Blazer: J. Crew {try this}
Bag: 3.1 Philip Lim 'Medium Pashli'

Nail Polish: Essie "Just for the Twill of it"

Yep, I finally bit the bullet. As much as I swore I wouldn't get a Pashli since they were already on every blogger's arm, I fell in love with the cobalt version and couldn't get it out of my head. You now have my permission to smack me if I try to buy another big purchase anytime soon...
