Fancy Friday

I would totally dress up in ballgowns and just lounge around on exotic walls, or at least, I would if I had this dress....

Lately I've been realizing I keep saving pretty dresses, fancy jewelry, and dangerously high heels for some special fantastical event in the future.

Its such a waste constantly putting off enjoyment for some uncertain future time or future self, and I'm going to try to procrastinating and overthinking and JUST DO IT {please don't sue me Nike.} Whether its a ridiculously twirly dress or a way too late night out, I'm going to start enjoying them more now

Ok, enough about me.
Go out, enjoy yourselves, because hey it IS the freakin weekend and you've earned it!

Lessons and Lace

Remember when you used to pick out your outfit the day before school? You would just wake up in the morning, get dressed, have breakfast and GO. Well, until middle school when we didn't have uniforms. That's when I can trace my habit of staring at my closet waiting for a miraculous new outfit to appear developed (perhaps this can be blamed on "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" as well.)

While my closet has gotten significantly bigger, my habit of staring into the abyss of clothes has not improved. So, time to try something new. Last night, I laid out everything-- yes, EVERYTHING-- that I would wear today. Pigs must be flying because I still liked it in the morning and was able to have extra time for breakfast (yes, the banana french toast...mmmm.)

I'd love to say I will be doing this every night before bed from now on, but lets be honest, I'll be lucky if I do it once a month. Still better odds than a magical closet...

Mama Wants a Brand New Bag

Spring usually means pretty pastel ladylike bags that are as light and airy as the weather. I don't know whether its the fact that I still haven't been able to put away my winter coats, or that I don't want my bag to blend in, but I can't get the idea of a bright red bag out of my head.

If I had a dream red bag, it would certainly be one of these!
Which one is your favorite?

Where's Hillary?

I've realized that while my references always make sense to me (obviously), they may appear totally random or just plain nonsensical  to others. So, just in case you were not allowed to read books as a child or lived under a rock, this is referring to the outfit of Waldo in the "Where's Waldo" books. Ok, now that we got that out of the way, here is the lowdown on today's look.

Cashmere Tee: J. Crew // Long Sleeved Top: Isli // Skirt: H&M {old but try this or this

Watch: Michael Kors // Belt: Ralph Lauren {similar here and here}

Fancy Friday: Daydreaming

So I woke up on Wednesday morning completely baffled as to why my alarm was going off so early on a Saturday. Yep, I thought it was already the weekend. Needless to say, this weekend has been a long time coming!

I'm counting the minutes until I can pack up all my coats and throw on a girly dress for rooftop cocktails. Until then, I'm going to daydream about running away and escaping the cold.

Have a great weekend!

Belts Make Everything Better

Even though this leather wrap belt may be one of my favorite things ever (for proof just read my post on it) I don't often break it out. Not only does it keep the sweater from making me look like a bag lady, it provides a much needed pop of color. Waist definition and makes the outfit? Ok, I'll take it.

Sweater: BCBG {this Joie one is close} // Long Sleeve Shirt: H&M //
Faux Leather Skirt: Max Studio {similar here} // Belt: Giorgio Armani {try this or this}

Coat: J. Crew Plaza Coat // Bag: Marc Jacobs
I really should not have to wear a wool coat when its officially spring. Not cool Mother Nature, not cool.

Rings: Vintage finds from Ebay // Nailpolish: Opi Cha Ching Cherry and Essie Lilacism

Ballerina Dreams

I wanted to be a lot of things growing up-- actress, fashion designer, spy -- but never a ballerina. Sure it would have been nice, but being the next James Bond was the real dream (ok, it still kind of is.) Apparently today though I was channeling my long lost inner ballerina. Between the nude color, the twirly skirt, and of course, ballet flats, I feel like I should be pirouetting to the metro.
Sweater: Trina Turk {try this}// Skirt: Forever21 {similar here and here}

Nailpolish: Opi Cha Ching Cherry and Essie Lilacism // Rings: Both vintage from my grandmother

 Cuff: H&M {try this or this}  // Necklaces: Vintage Ben Amun {similar here and here}; Italian chain from my parents

P.S. Go buy these shoes now, seriously! They are on sale and crazy comfortable

Silver Lining

//1//
If you have read this blog for more than 2 minutes (thanks by the way) than you know that I have a slight (ok major) obsession with gold. Whether its a chunky link bracelet or a gold sequin skirt, I just can't get enough. Lately though, I've been drawn to (gasp!) Silver. I'm not just talking accessories either.

If you're not already a fine of that other metal, then I think you will be after looking at these photos! From just a hint (like silver shoes) to in your face (hello silver pants), these ladies show how its done.

In-Vested

My quest for the perfect army vest has made me feel like Goldilocks-- this one is too short, this one's too long, this one has a weird collar etc. I wandered into Nordstrom's Rack last weekend to browse and low and behold, EXACTLY what I had been searching for was right in front of me. Done and done!

Vest: Willow & Clay {I really like this one} // Dress: Gap {old but try this Asos one} // Tee: Isli

Necklace1928 {or try this Marc Jacobs for under $30} // Cuff: Prua {try this or this one}

{close up of pen and my Stam}

Fancy Friday: Red Hot

//1//
Last week I became obsessed with the idea of having a traffic stopping glam red dress. Just the nature of being red elevates it from mere everyday status, but these take it to another level. While I am still on the hunt for my own little red dress, just looking at these gets me in the mood to go out and paint the town...red!
{Yes I am that cheezy}
